Job Description: People & Culture Assistant

Purpose of the Role
The People & Culture Assistant will support the People & Culture (HR) department in implementing HR, employee engagement, administrative, and organizational culture initiatives. The role ensures smooth functioning of HR processes, helps foster a positive work environment, and assists with operations that enable NAAMII’s teams to thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recruitment & Onboarding
    • Assist with job posting, screening of resumes, coordinating interviews.
    • Prepare onboarding materials; ensure new hires receive necessary orientation and access.
    • Maintain recruitment records and applicant tracking.
  • HR Administration
    • Maintain accurate personnel files and HR databases.
    • Assist in updating HR policies, manuals, and documentation.
    • Process HR paperwork: contracts, performance appraisals, leaves, attendance, etc.
  • Employee Engagement & Culture
    • Support activities that promote positive workplace culture (team building, recognition, feedback)
    • Assist with internal communications for staff updates, announcements, and events.
    • Collect employee feedback / survey inputs when needed.
  • Learning & Development Support
    • Help organize training sessions, workshops, seminars.
    • Coordinate logistics (venue, materials, invitations)
    • Track staff training participation and maintain records.
  • Compliance & Governance
    • Ensure HR practices comply with local labor laws and organizational policies.
    • Assist with preparation for audits or compliance checks related to HR.
    • Help in policy implementation and monitoring.
  • Administrative Support
    • Support office operations where relevant: supplies, equipment, facilities coordination.
    • Assist with general administrative tasks across People & Culture team.
    • Maintain confidentiality of employee information and handle sensitive matters with discretion.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Social Sciences, or related field.
  • 1‑2 years of work experience in HR / People & Culture / Administration, preferably in research, education, or non‑profit sector.
  • Basic knowledge of HR best practices and labor laws in Nepal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with HRIS or database tools is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Good communication skills in English and Nepali, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
