You will contribute to the further development and enhancement of a medical AI platform whose core AI technology has already received U.S. FDA 510(k) clearance, including new capabilities that will require further regulatory clearance.
This role offers hands-on research experience focused on solving challenging problems in medical imaging, computer vision, artificial intelligence, 3D analysis, and orthopaedic surgical planning. You will have opportunities to formulate and test hypotheses through experiments, implement and evaluate methods from recent research publications, and receive mentorship from experienced researchers and industry experts.
You will contribute to translating research outcomes into practical technologies and products for real-world clinical applications.
We are seeking one or more motivated Research Assistants who are passionate about developing the next generation of deep-technology healthcare solutions with the potential to create global impact.
Responsibilities
As part of a multidisciplinary R&D team, you will work closely with research engineers, AI scientists, software engineers, clinicians, and medical technology experts. Your responsibilities will include:
Research and Development (R&D): Contribute to the research and development of AI-based and computational methods for lower-limb medical image analysis and orthopaedic surgical planning, with a particular focus on osteotomy and arthroplasty applications.Medical Imaging AI Development: Work with the team to design, train, and evaluate deep-learning models for CT and X-ray analysis, including bone segmentation, anatomical landmark detection, anatomical measurements, alignment assessment, and 3D reconstruction.
Osteotomy and Arthroplasty Planning: Contribute to developing AI and computational methods for lower-limb alignment assessment, osteotomy planning, implant sizing and positioning, resection planning, component positioning, and related orthopaedic surgical-planning workflows.
AI Algorithm Validation: Work with the research and clinical teams to validate developed algorithms for accuracy, robustness, and generalizability using clinical imaging datasets and appropriate quantitative evaluation methods.
Technology Translation: Collaborate with clinicians, software engineers, quality, regulatory, and product-development teams to translate research outcomes into practical medical software and real-world products.
Technology and Research Strategy: Review scientific literature, implement and evaluate relevant methods, and investigate emerging technologies in artificial intelligence, medical imaging, computer vision, 3D analysis, image registration, surgical planning, and related areas to support future research and product-development directions.
Research Outputs: Contribute, where appropriate, to scientific publications, technical reports, research presentations, and other research outputs arising from the project.
