We’re pleased to share that Dr. Prasoon Saurabh, Research Scientist at the Bhaweshwar Das Center for Advanced Studies (BDCAS) at NAAMII, will be contributing to the UNESCO Global Quantum Initiative (GQI) as a member of the working group on Anticipatory Governance and Responsible Innovation.
The UNESCO Global Quantum Initiative (2026–2028) brings together researchers, policymakers, institutions, industry, and other stakeholders to strengthen international cooperation and build more inclusive participation in the development of quantum science and technology. Its work spans quantum education and capacity building, infrastructure and resource sharing, public engagement, science diplomacy, and responsible quantum innovation.
As quantum technologies move from research into increasingly practical applications, questions around governance, ethics, accountability, and their broader societal implications are becoming an important part of the conversation. The GQI’s work on anticipatory governance focuses on considering these dimensions early in the research and innovation process.
We congratulate Dr. Prasoon Saurabh on this opportunity to contribute to an international initiative on the future of quantum technologies, and to bring perspectives from Nepal and the wider Global South to these discussions.
