Sameer Dangol Named Joint Winner of 3-Minute Thesis Competition at NiCHOD 2026
We’re pleased to share that Sameer Dangol, Research Assistant at NAAMII’s Computational Genomics Lab (CGL), was named a joint winner of the 3-Minute Thesis competition at NiCHOD 2026.
Organized by the National Young Academy of Nepal (NAYAN) as part of the celebrations for National Science Day 2083, the competition challenged researchers to communicate their work clearly and engagingly in just three minutes. Sameer presented his research to a multidisciplinary panel, distilling complex scientific ideas into a concise presentation accessible beyond his immediate field.
For Sameer, the achievement reflects both his research experience and the support he has received throughout his journey. He credits his mentor, Dr. Raunak Shrestha, for guiding him through each round of the competition, as well as the everyday research discussions and opportunities for public engagement at NAAMII. He also points to experiences such as NAAMII’s Open House, where researchers regularly engage with audiences beyond their own disciplines, as valuable opportunities to develop his communication skills.
At NAAMII, we see research communication as an important part of building research capacity. Strong research is not only about asking important questions and producing rigorous results; it is also about being able to explain that work clearly, whether to a fellow researcher, a student, or someone encountering the topic for the first time.
Congratulations to Sameer on this achievement, and to Dr. Raunak Shrestha and the CGL team for supporting his research and growth as a scientist and communicator.
