• Former Full-time Research Scientist at NAAMII
  • Former Assistant Professor at state-funded US incubator
  • Focus on SGD dynamics, healthcare/agriculture AI, and education

Dr. Shishir Raj Adhikari served as a Research Scientist at NAAMII, studying complex systems across multiple domains. His research spans three main areas: machine learning theory, practical applications, and education. In machine learning research, he is fascinated by the dynamics of Stochastic Gradient Descent (SGD) and its ability to navigate high-dimensional loss landscapes while yielding models that generalize remarkably well. His research aims to unravel the underlying mechanisms that enable SGD to converge to well-generalizing solutions. He is motivated to leverage low-cost and accessible technologies to address pressing challenges in Nepal, particularly in healthcare and agriculture. Having worked at a state-funded incubator in the US, he brings valuable insights to NAAMII's incubator, providing access to resources, mentorship, and networking opportunities. In education, he is committed to developing comprehensive interdisciplinary curricula that balance theoretical rigor with hands-on application, ensuring students are equipped to tackle real-world challenges effectively. His work at NAAMII contributes to building startups and educational programs that address key challenges in Nepal's development.
